Aucklands own Eddie Numbers has announced the release date of their debut album ‘Another Day In Paradise’.
I reviewed Eddie Numbers right here on this blog, when they performed at Ponsonby Social Club in February, so I am so pleased to hear about their album release on the 14th May 2012.

Tracks from the album have already received radio play on George Fm, Bfm and Radio Active. Base Fm are making Another day in Paradise album of the week during the release week in May. The band has described ‘Another Day In Paradise’ as an ‘alternative Hip Hop recording.’
This album was recorded in New Zealand but mixed and mastered by Mike Nielsen at Moda Sound Studios, Istanbul. Neilson has worked with international artists including Jamiriqui, Underworld and KRS ONE.
Over the past two years Eddie Numbers has worked hard honing their live performance at big festivals and countless clubs and bars across the country, while gathering themselves a loyal fan base.
The group were adamant they wanted to portray the energy of their live performance on their debut record. Eddie Numbers describe themselves as a band as opposed to being an M.C or rap group with a band.
The band are drummer, musical director and producer, Regal Norris, bass and guitar from Ben Healey, talented MC Edgar Mahon and soulful vocals provided by Tyla Pere. These guys, plus the Bands DJ Baz, make up Eddie Numbers.
Another Day In Paradise also features guest musicians including jazz/keyboard legend, Alan Brown, the supremely talented Marika Hodgeson and horns duo Tim Baker and Jonny McClean.
The album features 9 tracks but here is the video for ‘You Don’t Know’ as a taster.
You can follow the band on Facebook or @EddieNumbersNZ
There will be a album release party on May 19th at Ponsonby Social Club, Auckland and I look forward to hearing about a tour too!

If you are in New Zealand then Splore 2012 is the place to be this weekend (Feb 17th - 19th)

This summer music festival takes place at Tapapakanga Regional Park, Auckland (just 70km south-east of Auckland), a stunning location offering ‘Splorers’ swimming in fresh water lagoons as well as a killer line up which rivals any European festival out there. (Plus you get to be in New Zealand! Sweet As!)
The main stage is located on the beach!

If the location doesn’t sell it to you the music and culture of the Splore festival will. The festival comes every second summer and brings with it arts, culture, community and music in a unique setting, with an eclectic and world class line up of local and international performers.
The word ‘splore’ means to frolic; revel; carousal and the festival promises just that. 2012 brings you visual arts, interactivity,VJ performances, theatre, caberet and a kids zone. Their website proclaims you will have a ‘Sploresome’ time.

The Line up includes a Aotearoa debut from Erykah Badu, she is a multi Grammy award winning performer mixing Soul, Jazz and Hip Hop in to her music.

The UK’s Hip Hop legends and also Grammy winning Soul II Soul will be performing, where Jazzie B will be joined by original vocalist Caron Wheeler.

Another of the big headliners is 3 times DMC World Champiion Invisibl Skratch Piklz, DJ Qbert. He will be performing with one of the Worlds best Beatboxers Reeps One, 2009 & 2010 UK Beatbox Champion.
Wellington bands The Nudge & the Black Seeds will be travelling up north to perform at the event .
.
UK hip hop DJ supremo Shortee Blitz and dub legend Earl Gateshead,Trojan Sound System, will definitely get the crowd going this weekend.
I was also so glad to hear the the UK’s FINEST festival band ‘The Cuban Brothers’ would be strutting their unique, playful and funkalicious stuff all over Splore!
